Government initiatives for eco friendly heating

The governments from all parties and all eras have, over the years, promoted initiatives for insulation. Energy saving, environmentally friendly homes are very much in vogue and the installation of eco friendly heating for houses of all types is one area which attracts initiatives. The incentives are usually a cost benefit and that can be towards the materials needed or for the installation itself.

However there was a time when this grant system was abused by builders who claimed the government grant but did only part of the job. They left with the money and the homeowner was left with a partially completed job.

This ‘fiddle’ has been eradicated but there are still some loopholes in the system. Solar paneling is one where sales people will promise rebates for installing the water system, but then it all comes to nothing and again the homeowner has to pick up the bill.

However its not all doom and gloom with new pipe lagging and loft insulation an ever increasing requirement from the governments housing expert. The most recent figures suggest that there areas till many homes with inadequate or outdated insulation in the roof space so there is pressure on the local councils to alert people to the fact that their home is not very energy efficient. It all goes along with the philosophy of having an eco friendly home heating system, but if half the heat generated in an eco friendly way, is being lost due to poor insulation there is little point in having that system in place.
